Winning the toss, Ewelme batted first and got off to a good start loosing their first wicket for 32, they then went onto 80 for 3, 152 for 4, finishing on 185 for 6 after 35 overs. Our bowling figures were Chris 43 for 1, James Low 26 for 1, Matt 31 for 0, Ed Roe 28 for 3, Paul Reynolds 22 for 1 and Rob Carney 29 for 0. We then went into bat with Paul R and Matt opening – Matt was bowled for 3, in went Nick. Paul and Nick went on make a partnership of 70 before Nick was bowled. Frank was out caught for 0, and in went Chris taking the score to 84 when Paul was caught. In went Ed, taking the score to 159 making a partnership with Chris of 77 before Chris was run out for 51. With only 2 balls of the 35 overs left, in went James L and finished the match with Ed and James both not out. Although we lost this match it was a very good and exciting game and the return match is eagerly anticipated. Everybody enjoyed the game and played well. Man of the Match was Ed Roe with 26 not out and taking 3 wickets.

Sydenham batted first with seasoned openers Nigel and Tim. After 5 overs, the score had reached 7 of which 3 were wides. Tim went for a duck and Nigel was then joined by Nic. Nic made a 10 before being caught and in went Phil, but was out LBW for 6. Nigel was still in! Alan came in but soon departed for a duck as did Henry. Rob made 17 and Nigel was still in! Ted came in and was out for a duck and Nigel was still in, but eventually went for 12 after 111 mins……….The highlight of the innings followed with Mark Kermack scoring 9. After a brilliant tea laid on by Ann Ashfield, the bowling did not really go to plan. Sydenham were all out for 83 of which 15 were extras with Cuxham winning the game on 84 without loss. However, a good afternoon was had by all.

A glorious  day for cricket befitting our first home game at our new ground at Lewknor. Sydenham batted first with openers Tim Howarth and Nigel Brewster. In the 5th over, Tim went for 1 at which point Rob Lang found himself at the crease. A good partnership ensued, taking the total to 82, before Nigel was bowled for 17.  In went Matt but was then out for 1. Ian (Hovis)  Baker a new recruit entered the frame. Rob fell for an impressive 58 and in went skipper Henry Eaton.  Ian was bowled for 16 and Henry 18, then followed a bit of a batting collapse.

Bowling figures were as follows – Rob 20e for 2, Tim 15 for 0, Kieran 30 for 0, Matt 15 for 0, Ian 15 for 0, Chris 20 for 0, Henry 12 for 0 and Malcolm 16 for 1. The final score was Sydenham 148 for 8 off 35 overs, Swyncombe 154 off 30 overs.  A closely fought game against good opposition.

The toss was won and Haddenham were put in to bat.  The father and son combination of Tim and Frank Howarth opened well. Frank was LBW for  3 and then Tim continued with Rob Lang for a great partnership of 68  before Rob was out for 53 and Tim finishing on 20. Matt Reading then scored 4, with Edward and Toby Roe scoring  11 and 3 respectively. Malcolm Barker got off the mark with 1, with  Henry Eaton, Chris Schurch and Mark Kermack ending with Os and Dan Reading not out with 4. Total of 102 all out after 28 overs.

Haddenham then entered the batting fray. Bowling figures for Sydenham were  Rob 4 wickets for 6 runs, Tim 1 for 20, Henry 2 for 11, Matt 1 for 11, Dan 0 for 11, Edward 0 for 6 and Chris 2 for 8.

Haddenham finished on 87 all out after 28 overs, giving Sydenham a 15 run victory. Man of the match was Rob Lang for his efforts with both bat and ball. 

A great game to start the season against a very sporting side.
